BoreFit 2023 Exercise Challenge for Baltic Sea Sustainability

Bore has been leading an innovative journey through the annual BoreFit challenge, motivating employees to embrace a healthier lifestyle for five years already. The fifth edition of BoreFit started with a unique twist: the company pledged to donate one cent for every minute of physical activity logged by its employees to the Baltic Sea Action Group.

This symbolic gesture highlights the intrinsic link between personal well-being and environmental conservation, emphasizing the importance of healthy living and its positive impact on the environment. The target minutes for year 2023 was to reach 1 000 000 minutes of exercise.

We are thrilled to announce that we surpassed our target, gathering a total of 1 007 966 minutes,” says Sonja Koivisto, the BoreFit promoter and HR Manager, with great enthusiasm.

For celebrating passing this milestone with a great success Bore recently held a celebration event aboard MV Bore Wind in Rauma. The event marked the culmination of Bore employee’s collective effort to gather motion minutes throughout 2023, with the company pledging to donate one cent for each minute collected to the Baltic Sea Action Group’s efforts for the Baltic Sea. The donation serves as a testament to Bore’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship.

Bore has offices along the shores of the Baltic Sea in Helsinki and Mariehamn, and several vessels operating in the region. Bore vessels – Bore Way, Bore Wave and Bore Wind – implement environmentally friendly practices such as offloading wastewater in ports. This wastewater is reused for district heating in Rauma port and for biogas production in Kotka. This practice demonstrates Bore’s efforts to minimize the impact to the Baltic Sea.

Bore emphasizes the importance of environmental friendliness and explores innovative transport solutions, aiming to reduce the negative environmental impact of shipping and explore new, more environmentally friendly solutions.

Bore’s commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle among its employees while supporting the sustainability of the Baltic Sea, reflects its dedication to both personal wellness and environmental stewardship. This is an action where we all play an important role for a better planetary future.
